Anoka County: Ham Lake and Andover
Anoka County Farms in Ham Lake runs September 19 through October 31 and is closed Mondays. Admission is $5 per person and covers many of the farm's activities, though some extras, such as hayrides and the play area, are listed as paid add-ons. On weekends the concession stand serves State Fair-style food, including cheese curds, mini donuts, and hot cider. The farm takes cash only.
Eveland Family Farm in Andover suits a slower, animal-focused visit. The $6 admission includes a hayride, animal visits, and a self-guided farm tour, and the residents include llamas, alpacas, goats, and pot-bellied pigs. A picnic shelter is available if you bring your own food.
If you're curious about this part of the county beyond pumpkin season, our guide to living in Anoka covers the community in more detail.
Northwest Hennepin County: Dayton
Dehn's Pumpkins in Dayton grows its pumpkins in a 20-acre field and adds a corn maze and a scenic hayride. Entry to the market area and pumpkin patch is free, while wristbands for activities run $8 to $12 per person and not every activity is offered every day. Its hours run later than most farms on this list, until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Dayton also hosts a free Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkin Trail at Cloquet Overlook Park on Wednesday, October 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Wright County: Monticello, Buffalo, Delano, and Albertville
Fresh Acres Farm in Monticello has the earliest finish of the group, closing for the season on October 25. The $13 admission covers wagon rides, a petting zoo, inflatables, a playground, and the corn pit. Its sunflower field is open daily with free entry and a requested donation of $8 on weekdays or $13 on weekends.
Two orchards round out the county's fall options. Deer Lake Orchard in Buffalo and Apple Jack Orchards in Delano both list weekend fall programming, generally 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. If you're comparing these towns as places to live, our Monticello and Buffalo neighborhood guide goes deeper.
In Albertville, the Lions Club hosts a free Pumpkin Party at Central Park on Thursday, October 1, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Sherburne County and Otsego
Pearson Family Farm has moved. Longtime visitors may remember it on Highway 10 in Ramsey, but it now operates at a new location in Clear Lake. It's open weekends in September and October, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with $5 admission that covers the corn maze, games, wagon rides, and farm animals.
Otsego's free Pumpkin Patch takes place Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at Prairie Park. Register for a 10 or 11 a.m. time slot through the city's recreation page. Only kids who register ahead can take a pumpkin home, while supplies last, and there's trick-or-treating along the trail, a DJ, and a fall photo area.
How to Choose the Right Patch

Pick-your-own pumpkins on a wagon at a Minnesota farm
- Pre-picked or pick-your-own. Some farms sell pumpkins already gathered, while others let you pick in the field. If the field is the point of your trip, ask before you go.
- Bring cash. Anoka County Farms is cash only, and payment options vary at other farms.
- Check weekday hours. Several farms open in the afternoon on weekdays, which makes a weekday visit an after-work trip rather than an all-day one.
- Plan around MEA break. Several farms add special hours around October 15 and 16.
- Watch the season end. Fresh Acres wraps up October 25, earlier than most.
If You're Thinking About a Move
If you're weighing a move to the north metro, a fall weekend is a low-pressure way to test a town. Drive in the way you'd commute, notice how far it is to groceries and gas, and see the main streets on an ordinary Saturday. Pair a pumpkin stop with a slow drive through nearby neighborhoods.
